Humans' exploration of "invisibility" is always exhausting. Recently, researchers at the University of Texas at Austin have made new discoveries about how to better "invisible."
The traditionally defined invisible material is a material that changes the path of incident light, bypassing hidden objects to achieve invisibility. Researchers at the University of Texas at Austin, USA, used a plasmonic material that changed the electric and magnetic fields (the characteristics of the light itself) to achieve complete invisibility of the three-dimensional object under microwave illumination (see figure below). The invisible material is said to produce a film-like negative effect that eliminates the object's interference with light. Therefore, if it is applied to a complex surface such as a stealth fighter, the aircraft can be completely invisible and cannot be detected by any radar. Although it is still unable to achieve visible wave stealth, its positive practical significance still drives research to continue.
