Each node of the sorghum stem has axillary buds, especially at the base of the stem, and the internodes are short, and the distribution of axillary buds is very dense. The sorghum bud has a strong ability to regenerate and germinate. After harvesting or slashing, the axillary buds in the dormant state at the base or upper part of the stem will soon germinate, grow new plants or branches, and grow and develop under appropriate conditions. The earings will mature and then harvest for another season. It is the regeneration of sorghum. In many places in the south, the frost-free period is long, the temperature is high, and the cultivation is regenerated, and a large increase in yield can be obtained.
Regenerated sorghum has the characteristics of early maturity, overcharge, seed saving, labor, and seedling protection. If there are more plants in the early stage, and the disease is ruined, it is not suitable for regeneration. Generally, varieties with strong regenerative power should be selected, such as Jinza No. 5, Noza No. 7, No. 52, No. 10, and No. 12. Planted in a relatively fertile land that is more susceptible to drought and soil. In southern China, spring sowing sorghum needs to be harvested at the end of July and early August, so that the regeneration sorghum has a growth period of 95 to 100 days before it can be safely matured. Therefore, proper early planting and early insertion is the key to ensuring regeneration and maturity and high yield in two seasons. Therefore, it will be planted before the middle and late March, and the first season will mature before the end of July. When the planting is postponed, the sorghum is more likely to be cooked later and the yield is reduced. In the first season, high-quality organic fertilizer should be used as the base fertilizer, and organic fertilizer and chemical fertilizer should be mixed for topdressing. During the flowering stage, the soil should be kept moist to prevent the root and axillary buds from premature aging. If the drought is late, you need to pour the horse water before or after cutting the stalks or lay the stalks on the rows. Be careful not to cover the hoes. After the germination of the regenerated seedlings, remove the stalks from the field. The head lice use the sunny day to cut the stalks early, and the harvest in the first season is too late, which will cause root aging and death. Especially in the case of drought, the harvest is too late, the leaves in the lower part of the plant are yellow, the stems are dehydrated, and the regeneration ability is reduced. Miao, also due to poor filling, maturity is inconsistent, resulting in reduced production. Generally, when 80% of the plants reach maturity, they should be harvested immediately. With the harvest, the stalks should be cut tightly against the ground with a sharp knife to avoid stalk tearing. Keep the pile low, leaving the stem base near the soil 1 to 2 knots for the long buds. After the regenerated shoots are seeded, the excess buds are removed in time, and each plant retains 1 to 2 buds. Five days before the first season of harvest, 40 kg of ammonium bicarbonate per acre was used to re-emerge the water and promote sprouting. In some places, the method of cutting the stalks and ploughing the ridges is used to expose the high-headed hoe. Under the sorghum head, a sufficient amount of base fertilizer is applied, and the soil is shallowly replenished, and water is poured once in the drought. The main pests in the middle and late stages are corn borer, armyworm and aphids, and there are bird damages at maturity. They should be planted in a concentrated manner to prevent birds and insects.
