From 2D to 3D, it is one of the biggest headaches for every 2D user to become a 3D user. How to reuse the previous 2D data has become one of the most concerned issues for 2D users. Reusing 2D data greatly reduces the need to repeatedly create 2D data in 3D software and improve work efficiency. SolidWorks provides 2D editor software, an independent editing tool for maintaining 2D old data. It can also directly input 2D data into SolidWorks and reuse 2D data. The following will be explained with an example.
As shown in the figure below, this is a 3D data in 2D. You need to input this 3D into SolidWorks and convert it to SolidWorks 3D data file.
Steps:
1. Open SolidWorks, then use SolidWorks to open the command. In the open window, select the file type as DWG (*.dwg), select the DWG drawing file you want to use, and click “Openâ€.
2. After clicking Open, the “DXF/DWG Input†window pops up, because we need to convert to SolidWorks 3D model, so select “Enter to new part†and click “Nextâ€.
3. Go to the “Engineering Layer Mapping†setting and remove the unnecessary layers. After setting, click “Nextâ€.
4. Enter the “File Settings†setting, you can set the unit for the input parts. The most important thing is to select “3D Curve/Model†after “Enter this drawingâ€. Click "Finish."
5. After the SolidWorks kernel calculation and conversion, the 3D solid model shown in the following figure will be generated.
6. Similarly, if you need to modify the entity, you can use SolidWorks FeatureWorks to identify the features, identify the features, and modify the size, position and other parameters, which greatly facilitates the subsequent modification of the model.
After the conversion of SolidWorks, it can be converted into a 3D solid model, and the 2D data is reused, which greatly reduces the time and work of re-modeling.
