The Brazilian energy giant Petrobras announced at the end of July 2011 that it is seeking to produce 5.6 billion liters of ethanol by 2015. Petrobras plans to invest a total of $4.1 billion over the five-year period, $2.8 billion will be used for production and research, and $1.3 billion will be put into supply logistics.
