Japan promotes clean energy policy

Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan is expected to publish a policy of promoting clean energy, intending to realize the installation of solar panels to all new buildings by 2030.

According to reports on the 22nd, Naoto Kan is scheduled to release this policy during the G8 Summit in Deauville, France, on May 26th and 27th, aiming to promote the popularization of clean and safe energy while encouraging technological innovation.

The report said that Japan was hit by an earthquake and tsunami on March 11 and triggered a serious radiation leak at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. Although the Naoto government insisted on using nuclear power to generate electricity, it was also reorienting the direction of new energy development.

Naoto Kan intends to declare Japan’s new commitment to the summit on the safe use of nuclear energy on the 26th and announce new energy and energy saving plans. He believes that under the promotion of policies, technological innovation can reduce the cost of new energy infrastructure construction, and it is entirely possible that all new buildings will be put into use of solar energy by 2030.
