According to the statistics of China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, the national automobile production and sales in May was 1,975,800 and 1,191,200 respectively, and the production and sales decreased by 4.44% and 4.64% respectively; the year-on-year growth was 10.97% and 8.50% respectively.
From January to May, the production and sales of automobiles were 9,992,800 and 9,838,100, respectively, up 9.37% and 8.97% year-on-year.
(I) Passenger car sales in May increased by 13.85% year-on-year
In May, passenger cars produced 1,649,600 units, a year-on-year increase of 16.19%, a decrease of 1.1% from the previous month; sales of 1,500,400 units, an increase of 13.85% year-on-year and a decrease of 1.2% from the previous month. Among them, the sales of cars was 100,800 units, up 7.3% year-on-year; the sales of MPVs was 130,300 units, up 54.0% year-on-year; the sales of SUVs was 319,200 units, up 40.1% year-on-year; the sales of cross-type passenger cars were 132,200 units, down 8.2% year-on-year.

Among them, the sales of cars was 5,157,300, a year-on-year increase of 5.4%; the sales of MPV was 755,300, a year-on-year increase of 56.4%; the sales of SUVs was 1,498,300, a year-on-year increase of 37.5%; the sales of cross-type passenger vehicles was 659,200, a year-on-year decrease of 17.1%.

From January to May, commercial vehicles produced a total of 1,18,800 units, a year-on-year increase of 2.4%; sales of 1,768,800 units, an increase of 0.1%.
