On August 1, two new national standards for water purification appliance industry GB/T30307-2013 "household and similar water purification devices" and GB/T30306-2013 "household and similar uses of drinking water purification core" formally implemented.

For the introduction of the new standard, some people are applauded. Some people questioned: Applause believe that strengthening standards can purify the market and promote the orderly development of the industry; doubters said that at present, the standards of China's water purification equipment industry have been flooded, and the addition of standards only increases the number of enterprises. The burden is not good for the industry.

According to the data from the Yikang monitoring data, the year-on-year increase of China's water purification equipment reached 62% in the first five months of 2014. Zhong Yi Kang expects that the water purification equipment will maintain a substantial growth in 2014, leading the market to usher in the golden period of development, and the year-on-year increase is expected to reach 71%.

Water purification appliances are currently the fastest growing sub-sectors in China's home appliance industry, and the cries for introducing industry standards and strengthening market supervision have remained high. Some media reports attributed the lack of quality in the water purifier market, disparity in prices, concept hype, and false propaganda to various industry standards.

However, in fact, China's water purification appliance industry does not lack standards.

Water purification appliances are wading products, that is, "products related to the health and safety of drinking water." It is understood that at this stage, China implements a "market access system" for wading products. According to the division of labor by government departments, the health department is responsible for supervision and supervision of wading products according to law. In the standards and specifications of water-related products supervised and issued by the Ministry of Health, there are nearly 10 items involving water purification equipment.

In addition to the Ministry of Health, the departments of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, the Ministry of Environmental Protection, and the National Standardization Technical Committee for Household Electrical Appliances have also issued or led the development of relevant standards for water purifiers. According to statistics, there are as many as dozens of relevant standards for water purifiers that have been implemented, submitted for approval, and being launched.

In this regard, there are industry insiders questioned that China's water purification electrical industry standards have reached the point of "flood."

The crux of the problem: the lack of unified supervision Cao Gang believes that there are as many as three or four thousand enterprises in China's water purification appliance industry. Without a perfect standard system, the market will fall into a state of chaos. One harm."

However, in Cao Gang's opinion, the current urgent problem in the water purification appliance industry is not to continue to formulate standards, but to clarify which department should adopt the domestic water purifiers industry standard and who should monitor.
