New materials include KetaSpire PEEK filaments, 10% carbon fiber reinforced KetaSpire PEEK filaments and Radel PPSU filaments. This is the company's first medical grade 3D printed filament that defines contact applications (that is, they are suitable for contact with body fluids and tissues for less than 24 hours). All three levels are available in Solvay's e-commerce platform in Europe and North America.

Christophe Schramm, additive manufacturing business manager for Solvay Specialty Polymers' global business unit, said in a prepared statement: "The healthcare industry is rapidly becoming a leading market, thanks to additive manufacturing technology, which can Single-purpose and small-volume custom parts. However, the choice of high-performance filaments to meet stringent medical regulatory requirements is still very limited, which is the gap we want to make up, so we have introduced new medical grade materials."

Solvay said that its KetaSpire PEEK 3D printed filaments are designed to enhance the fusion of the print layer, partial density and partial strength (including along the z-axis). Radel PPSU 3D printed filaments support the integration of print layers in addition to transparency, elongation and toughness.
