Kazakhstan will resume the export tax on oil and petroleum products starting on the 16th.
On July 13 this year, Kazakhstan passed a government decree to impose an export tax of US$20 per tonne on crude oil exports. The export tax for light petroleum products is US$99.71 per tonne, and the heavy oil export tax is US$66.47 per tonne. The government order was formally announced on July 16 and came into effect one month later.
The Ministry of Finance of Kazakhstan predicts that the levy of export taxes on oil and petroleum products will bring about 60 billion tenge (1 US dollar or 147 tenge) in Kazakhstan's fiscal revenue in 2010. This figure will rise to 1770 in 2011. Billion tenge.
Kazakhstan began collecting oil and petroleum products export taxes on May 17, 2008, and its crude oil export tax was cancelled on January 26, 2009.
