According to reports, the near-space vehicle (unmanned airship) is the overall project of the aerospace 068 base during the 11th Five-Year Plan period. The process test airship, and related projects with the National University of Defense Technology, China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation Second Research Institute, etc., applied research and principle experiments in the civilian field is underway.

The Hunan Provincial Government listed the construction of Hunan Aerospace Science and Technology Industrial City as a provincial key project.
