Since the reform and opening up, relying on the rapid development of the domestic construction industry and real estate industry, the stone industry has achieved great results, with an annual output of more than 10 million tons. However, as the pressure of rising labor, environmental protection, raw materials and other costs has not been fundamentally alleviated, the profit margin of the stone industry has been continuously compressed, and it has entered a critical stage of transformation and upgrading.

The products not only went to all parts of the country, but also sold to foreign markets such as Russia and Singapore.
Pressure multiplication
Yunfu City, Guangdong Province, also known as “China Stone Capitalâ€, is one of the three major stone industry bases in China. In 2017, the total production value of Yunfu City reached 84.003 billion yuan, while the total industrial output value of the stone industry contributed 31 billion yuan, almost supporting half of the cloud economy.
However, the hidden worries behind the prosperous times have also affected the development of the industry from time to time, especially the water pollution and air pollution caused by stone processing, which has put the industry under environmental pressure. At the same time, the industry "only sees the stars, not the moon." Most of the stone enterprises are small in scale, mostly for workshop-style production and processing manufacturers, and there are few leaders with high brand and high reputation.
Industry insiders told reporters that in recent years, the foreign economy continued to slump, China's stone industry exports encountered a rare "cold flow", and domestic macroeconomic regulation, especially the limited real estate development, also made stone enterprises wholesale orders have shrunk. Under the double-sided pinch, although the stone enterprises achieved steady growth, in addition to the accelerated growth of production, the main business income, profit, investment, and import and export growth rate dropped significantly.
It is understood that the current stone industry has problems such as inadequate planning and mining methods and backward technology, which results in low yield of mined minerals, serious waste of resources and destruction, excessive disordered mining of some quarry, labor, environmental protection, raw materials, etc. The cost rises, the profit decreases, and the benefits of stone enterprises decline slightly.
“Homogeneity has intensified the vicious competition in the market. After the company develops high-margin products, it is not trying to improve product quality and added value of products. Take the road to quality
Relevant statistics show that among the 21,192 stone enterprises in China, 37.3% of the annual turnover is more than 5 million yuan, and 19.5% of the stone enterprises with more than 10 million yuan. However, most of the stone enterprises are small private enterprises.
